"Our Mission is that of being of immediate but effective service to the homeless in all theirneeds, material and spiritual, until they can find some others who can help them in a better and more lasting way."

Sister Barbara Joseph Foley opened a pantry for the homeless in March of 2006. From that time the pantry has continued to serve more than 600 people a month with food and clothing, and more than that - with respect and compassion to every person who enters the doors. The Just Faith Group of the Cathedral parish initiated parish participation and suggested that it become a monthly ministry. For the past two years it has become just that and has helped tremendously with donations of everything from water to socks and many items in-between. Sister Barbara Joseph has continued to count on the goodness of the Cathedral parish each month.

At 6:00 PM on November 12, 2009 the Cathedral will host a banquet to honor Sister Barbara Joseph and Sr. BJ's Pantry for the Homeless. Jari Askins, Lt. Governor of the State of Oklahoma, will be the guest speaker, and there will be a simple dinner to share. The goal of this evening while honoring Sister is to help insure the continued success of her programs. To make this a success I ask for your help financially and for your presence at the banquet; while the evening will be a success, your help will further this ministry of "Protecting the Powerless."
