The great liturgies of the church, particularly the Mass, emphasize the importance of sacred music. In fact, the Church has played a huge role in the development of Western Music and has been one of the greatest patrons of the arts throughout history. The Cathedral of Our Lady of Perpetual Help has enjoyed a long and storied tradition of excellent sacred music. As the Mother Church for the Archdiocese of Oklahoma City, we strive to exemplify the Church’s standards for liturgy as dictated by the Roman Missal.
The Cathedral Choir is a semiprofessional ensemble that is responsible for music at our parish and Archdiocesan liturgies. With repertoire ranging from Gregorian Chant and Palestrina to works by living composers, this ensemble works to highlight the magnificent sacred music developed by and for the Roman Catholic Church.
The choir is open to professionals and volunteers by audition. For more information, contact Nolan Patrick Reilly, Director of Music and Organist, at [email protected] or 405.523.3055.
