Debbie Brown and her husband, Roger, have been active members of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish since 2004. Their sons, Grayson and Seth, are both proud graduates of Bishop John Carroll Cathedral School, where Debbie was an active volunteer and served on the PTO. Grayson went on to graduate from Bishop McGuinness Catholic High School, and Seth is currently a sophomore there.
Over the years, Debbie has faithfully served the parish community as a member of the Parish Council, Eucharistic Minister, and Sacristan. Professionally, she is currently involved in managing her family’s business in Okarche. Prior to this role, Debbie worked as a Sales and Marketing Director for Marriott International.
Joseph Brantley is a Talent Acquisition Specialist at M-D Building Products, Inc. in northeast Oklahoma City. He joined Our Lady of Perpetual Help in January 2021 and has dedicated four years of service to the parish. His commitment to the parish is evident through his weekly service as an usher and his volunteer work at Sister BJ's Pantry. He is also an active member of the Men’s Group, which meets on the third Wednesday of each month, and a proud member of the Knights of Columbus.
Beyond his professional and parish involvement, his greatest joy comes from being a father to three wonderful children and a proud grandfather to two precious grandchildren. He remains dedicated to serving both the parish and the wider community whenever possible.
Juliana Dayton has been a devoted member of the Cathedral parish since 2004. A cradle Catholic, she and her husband, Kevin, were married in the Cathedral in 2006. Juliana graduated with a marketing degree from Oklahoma State University and spent several years as a business consultant for a pharmaceutical distributor. She transitioned to being a stay-at-home mother after Isabella, her daughter, was born in 2015. Juliana has been actively involved in the parish community, serving as a sponsor with the Order of Christian Initiation for Adults (OCIA) and volunteering at Bishop John Carroll Cathedral School, where Isabella is currently in third grade. Juliana is passionate about her faith and enjoys giving back to both the church and school communities.
Dan Healy
Ryan Maxwell (Parish Council Chair) is the Supervisor of Revenue Accounting at Energy Transfer Partners in Oklahoma City. He has been an official member of the Cathedral Parish since returning to Oklahoma City in 2014. Ryan is actively involved in OCIA and Cathedral Cares and regularly volunteers at Sister BJ's Pantry. He joined the Parish Council in January of 2025, where he looks forward to serving the parish community.
Dr. Kathy Lofgren is a family medicine physician who has called Oklahoma home since 2007. She serves patients in the primary care clinic at Absentee Shawnee Health Center in Little Axe. A faithful member of Our Lady's Cathedral, Dr. Lofgren has been an active part of the parish community for many years.
Originally from Oregon, Dr. Lofgren was raised on her family’s Christmas tree farm. She earned her undergraduate degree from Portland State University and went on to complete her medical education at Oregon Health Sciences University.Dr. Lofgren and her husband of 26 years, Dr. Marty Lofgren, have four children. While their children attended Bishop John Carroll Catholic School, she was an active member of the PTO. Their youngest daughter, Marah, is currently a student at Bishop McGuinness Catholic High School.
Dr. Mary Kay Gumerlock is a retired neurosurgeon who was recruited from Oregon to join the Oklahoma University Health Sciences Center’s Neurosurgery Department in January 1991. Throughout her career, she provided full-time care for adults, children, and veterans at the VAMC while also teaching medical students, training residents, conducting research, and collaborating with colleagues across the Health Sciences Center.
Upon arriving in Oklahoma, she settled in Heritage Hills and quickly found a spiritual home at Our Lady of Perpetual Help (OLPH), officially joining the parish in March 1991. She has been an active member of the parish community, initially serving on the parish education board and parish council during the 1990s, later joining the spiritual life board, and eventually being asked to serve on the finance board. Since 1999, she has been deeply involved in OCIA (formerly RCIA) and continues to serve as a Eucharistic Minister while joyfully participating in the liturgy through music.
Despite not having family members attend Bishop John Carroll School, she has been a steadfast supporter of Catholic education, particularly in science instruction, since her arrival at OLPH. Her dedication to both the parish and school reflects her unwavering commitment to faith, education, and service.
Juvelyn Howell was born and raised in the Philippines. After moving to Manila, she graduated from the Accounting program at Centro Escolar University at just 19 years old. In 2003, she relocated to Dubai, where she managed accounts for prestigious luxury brands such as Cartier, Van Cleef & Arpels, and Montblanc. In 2011, she moved to the United States and has since built a successful career in the oil and gas industry, serving in revenue upstream and midstream accounting roles as a Lead Accountant for companies including Chesapeake (now Expand) and Diamondback.
Jhuvy and her husband, John, have been dedicated members of Our Lady’s parish since 2019. Together, they are raising their three daughters, who attend Bishop John Carroll Cathedral School in grades 3, Kindergarten, and Pre-K.
Steven Jacobi is a structural engineer with HNTB, a leading transportation infrastructure consulting firm. Prior to this role, he dedicated 35 years to the Oklahoma Department of Transportation, serving as Chief Bridge Engineer for the last six years of his tenure. He has been a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish since 1989. He and his wife, Annette, were married at the parish in 1993, and their children attended Bishop John Carroll School from Kindergarten through 8th grade. His commitment to the parish and school community includes serving on Building Committees, including the 1993 Renaissance project and various school additions. He also served for several years as President of the School Advisory Committee, playing a vital role in guiding the school's development.
Dr. Maria Nguyen has been a devoted member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Cathedral Parish since 1980. She and her husband were married at the Cathedral, and together they have raised three sons, all of whom attended Bishop John Carroll School. Over the years, Maria has been actively involved in numerous parish ministries, serving as an usher, Eucharistic Minister, FOCCUS facilitator, and as a dedicated member of the Cathedral Centennial Committee. A practicing general dentist, Maria resides in Edmond with her family and remains deeply committed to both her faith community and her profession.
James Tappan joined the parish in 1991 and began serving on the finance committee in 2003. He is the founder of Tappan Financial Group and serves as a wealth manager for families in Oklahoma, Arkansas, Texas, and other states. He is married to Kristen King and has four beautiful granddaughters. In his spare time, Jim is an avid hunter and fisherman.
Edward Wiewel is a lifelong Catholic and Oklahoma City resident. He attended grade school at Rosary Catholic School and high school at Bishop McGuinness Catholic High School. Upon graduating from McGuinness, Ed attended Oklahoma City University where he received a Bachelor of Arts Degree. Ultimately, Ed moved to Our Lady of Perpetual Help in 1998 and his three sons all attended and graduated from Bishop John Carroll Cathedral School. Ed has been employed at Gallagher Bassett Services, Inc., since 1993. In 2012, he was promoted to Sr. Vice President, U.S. Claims Operation and has remained in this role for the last 13 years. In 2021, Ed was asked by Fr. John Metzinger to join the OLPH Finance Council and he has served on the committee for the last 4 years. Ed’s wife Piper is active at Our Lady’s as well serving on various committees and in volunteer functions.
Wood began his tax career at Arthur Andersen, where he advanced to partner and led the Oklahoma City tax practice. He later joined EY as a tax partner, overseeing the Oklahoma tax practice, and eventually became the office managing partner for EY’s Oklahoma City office. In this role, he was responsible for the firm’s overall operations and client relationships in the market. Throughout his career, he has provided expertise in federal and state tax matters across various industries, assisting clients with strategic tax planning, mergers and acquisitions, reorganizations, tax controversies, and both public and private business transactions.
Beyond his professional achievements, Wood is dedicated to community service and education. He serves on the Board of Directors for the United Way of Central Oklahoma and the Petroleum Club of Oklahoma City. Additionally, he is a member of the Advisory Board for the University of Oklahoma’s Michael F. Price School of Accounting and a founding member of the John Marshall High School Foundation and Academy of Finance. He has also shared his expertise as an instructor at Oklahoma City University and the University of Oklahoma.
Wood holds a Bachelor of Accountancy in Accounting and a Bachelor of Business Administration in Economics from the University of Oklahoma. He and his wife, Gale, are proud parents of two sons and grandparents to three grandchildren.
