Mary Schrantz grew up in Montana as the youngest of six children, where her parents fostered a deep love for the Catholic faith in their family from an early age. She attended a Catholic high school before earning a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Montana State University. Over the years, Mary has built a diverse and accomplished career in accounting, serving in both public and private sectors, including work in public auditing, oil and gas, and investment and trust accounting. She has also dedicated her talents to nonprofit organizations, holding roles in accounting and advancement for museums, churches, and schools, many within the Archdiocese.
In 1991, Mary and her husband, Kurt, relocated to Oklahoma City with his job transfer, not knowing anyone in their new city. It was through the Catholic community that they found lasting friendships and a true sense of belonging. Together, they raised six children, all of whom attended Catholic schools from kindergarten through high school. Mary was a constant presence at her children's schools, volunteering and actively supporting fundraising efforts. She remains deeply grateful for the education and faith formation her children received, and now, as they’ve grown into adulthood, they express their own gratitude for that foundation. Recently, Mary has embraced the joy of becoming a grandmother, her most cherished new role.
Mary understands that the business side of running the Cathedral is vital to supporting its mission. She is honored to bring her professional expertise and her deep faith to serve the Cathedral community, ensuring that its ministries and outreach can continue to flourish.
