"Whoever receives you, receives me, and whoever receives me receives the One who sent me" (Matthew 10:40).
The ministry of ushers is the oldest lay ministry in the Catholic Church. The ushers of today have descended from a long line of people of God who have gone before them. During the time of Christ, the doorkeepers of the temple numbered in the hundreds and were the forerunners of today's ushers.
These ministers serve a crucial role as they are often the first members of our community visitors meet.Acting as an usher is a wonderful opportunity to minister to members and visitors by way of our attitude. A smile and a gracious greeting is a very warm welcome to church and by giving everyone a heartfelt welcome, we help set the tone of the congregation.
